The Dengue/Chikungunya/West Nile Virus Combo Rapid Test (Whole Blood/Serum/Plasma) is a rapid chromatographic immunoassay for the qualitative detection of Dengue NS1 antigen, antibodies to Dengue virus, Chikungunya virus and West Nile Virus in human whole blood, serum or plasma.
Dengue, Chikungunya, and West Nile Virus are distinct yet significant arthropod-borne viral infections. Dengue and Chikungunya are primarily transmitted by *Aedes* mosquitoes. Dengue often presents with high fever, severe muscle and joint pain, and can progress to fatal hemorrhagic fever. Chikungunya is characterized by abrupt fever and debilitating joint pain that can persist for months.
In contrast, West Nile Virus is mainly transmitted by *Culex* mosquitoes. While most infected individuals are asymptomatic, some develop West Nile Fever, and severe cases can lead to neuroinvasive diseases like meningitis or encephalitis. Diagnostically, these viruses can be challenging to distinguish based solely on clinical symptoms, particularly Dengue and Chikungunya, due to overlapping geographic distribution and initial signs. Consequently, rapid differential testing is essential for accurate diagnosis, appropriate patient management, and effective public health surveillance of these mosquito-borne threats.
